Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, two players that led their countries all the way to the final of the 2020 ATP Cup, which one can lead their country to glory in 2021?
And it was the Serbian who also faced Rafael Nadal in the final tie, and defeated him 6-2, 7-6(4) to level the score of the tie to 1-1. After that, Rafael Nadal has decided not to play doubles, which were about to decide about the 2020 ATP Cup champion. On the other hand, Novak Djokovic teamed up with Viktor Troicki to defeat Pablo Carreno-Busta and Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-4 to lead the country to the very first trophy for the ATP Cup champions.
In 2021, a similar scenario is expected to happen. Although, there are more teams that can reach the final, like Russia, Germany, France or Canada, the biggest favourites are again Serbia and Spain. This year, both line-ups changed a bit. While Novak Djokovic will be accompanied by Dusan Lajovic, Filip Krajinovic and Nikola Cacic. We will see Rafael Nadal with Roberto Bautista Agut, Marcel Granollers and Pablo Carreno-Busta.
Both teams are very strong again, and if they meet in the final again, there will be a great pressure on both Nadal and Djokovic again to lead their country to the title. Although, the surface might play an advantage for the Serbian, Nadal has a great fighting spirit and he will definitely try to win the trophy in 2021 after just missing on it in 2020.
