Australia’s tennis star
Nick Kyrgios is unlikely to feature
in this year’s
Wimbledon after recent reports of him being hired by the BBC. The
29-year-old has been out of action for more than 12 months after struggling with
fitness concerns. For this reason, he has missed the last five Grand Slams, including this year’s Australian Open. It seems like that number will only go up as he will not feature in the upcoming French Open as well, which will begin in less than a week's time.
Kyrgios, while responding to a fan on his social media
platform Instagram recently, announced that he is still hoping of making a
comeback sometime this year which sparked rumours that he might have been
planning to finally returning to the court at Wimbledon. However, those rumours
have now being put to rest as per the latest report, Kyrgios has been signed by
the BBC to work as a pundit in the third Grand Slam of 2024.
The development will definitely disappoint Kyrgios fans who
would’ve been hoping to see him return to the court in the event where he had
his best outing in his career. The Canberra-born star finished the 2022 edition
of the competition as the runner-up after losing to the current world number
one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the final with a score of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6.
