After losing the World No.1 ranking, Carlos Alcaraz could find himself in pole position again if he makes some changes to his serve, says legendary coach Rick Macci.

Currently sitting at the World No.3 spot, over 15 months have gone by since Alcaraz was ranked No.1. The Spaniard began the 2024 season as the World No.2, but lost that spot to German Alexander Zverev by the end of the year.

A higher first serve percentage is key, says Macci

The Italian coach, who trained WTA great Serena Williams during the early years of her career, believes Alcaraz can still return to the No.1 position in 2025. However, the reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion would have to increase his first serve percentage. In addition, he would need to work on his serve placement and precision, similar to that of 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer.

"If his % on the first serve get Better and his spots get like Federer look for the Spanish Magician by year end will regain the pole position," wrote Macci on Twitter.
