Britain’s former tennis star Laura Robson has revealed that
the current world number one
Carlos Alcaraz helped
Jack Draper in coping with
injuries earlier this year.
The 21-year-old struggled with fitness concerns earlier this
year and it was because of this reason, he ended up withdrawing from the
Wimbledon 2023 as well.
Robson was quoted in a report recently where she revealed
that Draper was helped by Alcaraz in getting over the injuries earlier this
year.
“I was actually speaking to Jack Draper back in Miami after
he’d had to pull out of the tournament there having injured himself in Indian
Wells,” she said. “He was getting texts from Carlos saying, ‘Let me know if you
need anything.
"Reach out if you want to have a chat about how you’re feeling,
about having so many injuries on and off. And [Alcaraz] just got the situation.
"And Jack’s got
nothing but good things to say about him. But I can’t think of anyone who has
got a bad thing to say about him.”
Draper had an impressive outing in the ongoing
US Open 2023
where he was eventually knocked out in the fourth round after losing to Russia’s
Andrey Rublev with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
