"Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal's fans should support Novak Djokovic" says Jim Courier

Jim Courier believes that the fans of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal should support Novak Djokovic in his quest to complete the calendar grand slam.

Novak Djokovic is only two matches away from completing the historic calendar grand slam. All eyes of the tennis world will be looking towards New York today where Djokovic is set to face a man touted as somebody who might possibly stop if. Whether Alex Zverev wins or not remains to be seen but 4x Grand Slam champion Jim Courier believes Djokovic should received the support of the majority of tennis fans.

He said:

"I would like to express a concept on which many will disagree. I'm sorry for the fans of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but everyone should encourage Novak Djokovic and hope that he can complete the Grand Slam. It would be great for the sport in general. A feat of this magnitude would not only have repercussions on his career, but the resonance would be immense even outside of tennis."

While the concept and idea is a noble one it's hard to see how diehard fans of either Nadal or Djokovic might ever support Novak Djokovic in his quest to essentially overcome their favourite players. Either way, many former tennis pro's have come forward expressing hope that Djokovic will be able to complete it as it would truly be one of the greatest tennis moments of all time.
