Tennis analyst Simona Graf believes Roger Federer will skip the US Open and end his season early to better prepare for 2022.
Roger Federer was set to meet his doctors this week in order to determine whether he will play US Open or not. The Swiss ace recently said that things were a bit uncertain now which meant that he himself was not sure whether he should travel to New York or not.
Noted tennis analyst Simona Graf expressed his belief that Roger Federer will most likely skip the US Open. In Graf's words, he will try to play doubles in the Laver Cup and then end his season early. All of that should permit him to come back at the Australian Open if his knee permits him. Graf said:
"He’ll skip the US Open, try to take part in the Laver Cup (play doubles) and end the season early. Then try to build up for the Australian Open, if his knee permits it"
Earlier in the week Federer said:
"I was on holiday. I haven’t done anything for a long time because of my knee. After Wimbledon, I had to let everything sink in first. This week, I will meet my doctors and my team, and then we’ll see what happens next. At the moment, everything is still a little uncertain."
