Olympic Bronze Medalist (mixed doubles)
Ashleigh Barty returns to tennis at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
The top seed will receive a 1st round BYE but in the quarterfinal, she might face
Garbine Muguruza. The match is projected to happen if both of them win all of their matches prior to the quarterfinals. Neither has been playing in stellar form lately with Barty's last singles appearance ending in a disaster filled with unforced errors.
Another interesting quarterfinal that is projected to happen in Cincinnati is between Svitolina and Swiatek. An interesting clash of styles between two players also out of form lately. Svitolina had a great run in Tokyo but failed to bring the same level to Montreal last week.
Karolina Pliskova and
Aryna Sabalenka is another projected quarterfinal however this one just happened last night. We saw Karolina Pliskova defeat Aryna Sabalenka only weeks after doing the same thing at Wimbledon. With the current form of both players, it's likely to happen again.
The final quarterfinals is probably the most interesting one. It was projected to happen last week in Montral however
Naomi Osaka pulled out of the event. She will play in Cincinnati and if
Bianca Andreescu is healthy enough to play her best tennis we might get the tennis delight which is their match.
