The Roland Garros returns on Friday with a strong schedule of play where
Rafael Nadal will take on
Diego Schwartzman and
Novak Djokovic will take on
Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Friday schedule of play will feature only two matches but they are going to be two great Roland Garros semifinal matches. The first of them will be between Rafael Nadal and Diego Schwartzman. Two players that enjoy playing on clay and who player's that have put forth fascinating performances at the Roland Garros. There is not much to say for either going into this match as all is pretty well known but Diego spent 5 hours on the court against Theim and those matches are hard to shake off.
He will need eveyr bit of energy against Nadal on clay who is known to suffocate his opponents with physical matches and long rallies. Their H2H heavily favours Nadal as he won 9 of the 10 matches they played. Their last encounter was recently in Rome with Schwartzman actually beating Nadal on clay.
The 2nd semifinal will feature an even more fascinating match between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Both players played spectacular tennis in these past two weeks with Djokovic only having little issues in his last match against Pablo Carreno-Busta. Stefanos had those same issues in the 1st round when he almost went out against Munar but after that he was sensational. Not only did he beat his opponents but he smashes them.
Their H2H is an interesting one as they played six times with both player's winning three matches. One of those was an exhibition match and it was one by Tsitsipas so in matches that counted Djokovic leads 3-2. They played once on clay before and Djokovic won that match with ease. It won't be as easy this time as Stefanos is playing fascinating tennis but Novak will be the favourite nonetheless.
