Two youngsters, Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud booked their second-round spot at the 2020 US Open, but their journey was much different.

Although the young Norwegian started his match almost two hours earlier than Andrey Rublev, they both finished at the similar time. The 30th-seeded Casper Ruud faced Mackenzie McDonald in the first round, while the Russian youngster took on Jeremy Chardy.
Casper Ruud had a very good start to the match against McDonald. He was leading already 4-1 and had a breakpoint on opponent's service game. However, he lost his lead and lost the first set 4-6. The second set finished with the same result after McDonald converted his only breakpoint and Ruud failed to convert his two in the last game of the set.
The young Norwegian was a break down also in the third set when he was losing already 3-4. But that was the moment when he started to play world-class tennis and managed to win the set 6-4. He continued in the same style also in the fourth and fifth set to later win the match 4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 after 3 hours and 45 minutes.
For Andrey Rublev, the story was much shorter and less exhausting. The Russian defeated Jeremy Chardy comfortably in 2 hours and 9 minutes 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. The 10th-seeded Rublev will meet the winner of the match between Daniel and Barrere in the second round.
