Andrey Rublev has ended his debut at the
ATP Finals with victory over Dominic Thiem in a 6-2, 7-5 victory with the latter through as the group winner.
Rublev who currently holds the honour of winning the most games on the ATP Tour this year was eliminated from contention on Tuesday.
But as a result of a freeroll, he produced a brilliant display to see off the Austrian with 80 percent of first serve points won and he now finishes on 41-10 for the year.
He raced into a 4-0 lead and took the first set with relative ease 6-2 winning 100 per cent of his first serve points to win the first 6-2.
Following that, despite dropping his serve at 4-3, Rublev produced after Thiem produced double faults and he served for the match holding with an 11th ace of the match to add some consolation points to his tally.
