The winners of the annual ATP Awards have been revealed, and it came as no surprise that
Andrey Rublev was bestowed with that honor.
Voted by his peers, Rublev finished the 2020 season with a tour-leading five titles. Furthermore, the Russian claimed 41 match wins this year and reached a career-high ranking of World No.8.
Starting the year at World No.23, Rublev won back-to-back titles in Adelaide and Doha. The 23-year old resumed his red-hot form following the ATP Restart, reaching the quarterfinals at the US Open and Roland Garros.
After claiming three more ATP 500 titles at Hamburg, St. Petersburg and Vienna, the Russian capped off his stellar season with his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals. His 41-10 record for the season equaled Novak Djokovic (41-5) for the most match wins on Tour in 2020.
It was only appropriate that his coach, Fernando Vicente, walked away with ATP Coach of the Year, as the former Spanish player guided Rublev to his best season on the ATP circuit.
