Sebastian Baez achieved his greatest triumph in his career to date as he won the
Rio Open after defeating fellow Argentine
Mariano Navone in the final. With this result, Baez picks up his fifth title on the Tour - his first ATP 500 level event.
Baez comfortably saw off Navone with a 6-2 6-1 victory in the Brazilian capital. It was still a week to remember for the qualifier though, as Navone has now broken into the top 100 in the ATP rankings for the first time, surging up to World No. 60.
Meanwhile, Baez will climb to a career-high 21 when the rankings are updated on Monday. The fifth seed dropped only one set en route to picking up the title in Rio, while Navone ended the dream run of home favourite Joao Fonseca in the quarter final, before taking a huge scalp as he beat defending champion Cameron Norrie in the last four.
Both players are playing in this week's ATP 250 Chile Open as the South American swing continues.
