Denis Shapovalov won his first ATP title after the victory over Filip Krajinovic at the Intrum Stockholm Open in Sweden.
It was the first final Shapovalov reached in his career.
After his semifinal match he said: “I’ve played a lot of semis it feels like, so it’s really exciting to be into my first final. I’ve had some bad luck, some tough matches in the semis."
Shapovalov's final opponent was also young Filip Krajinovic from Serbia. Shapovalov did not lose a set in Sweden and so Krajinovic faced a though obstacle.
And it was an obstacle he did not manage to get through. Shapovalov won the match 6-4 and 6-4 with some impressive statistics. He scored a total of 16 aces, won 93% of points after his first service. Although he struggled a bit with converting break points, he had a total 8 of them to convert 2.
It is the first ATP title for Shapovalov in Sweden and in the ATP ranking he should move to 27th place.
