Jelena Ostapenko won the title at the Luxembourg Open after defeating 2nd seeded Julia Goerges 6-4 and 6-1 in the final.
Former world number 5 Ostapenko played 2nd final in a row as she won 9 of the last 10 matches. Previous week she
lost to Gauff in the final in Linz.
This week she showed her top tennis again when she lost just 2 sets in Luxembourg, defeating also the 1st seeded Elise Mertens. After the semifinal match against Blinkova she said: “I feel really good on court,” Ostapenko said. “It doesn’t really feel like it’s the end of the season and you are supposed to be tired."
The final match lasted just 1 hour and a minute. Goerges led already 4-3 in the first set but since that moment Ostapenko won 9 of the 10 games to earn her first title of 2019.
