Norway’s tennis star
Casper Ruud’s sponsor has been
criticised for designing the jersey which is very similar to Denmark’s flag at the
Paris Olympics. The mega-event is being currently played in the capital of
France where athletes from all over the world are participating to showcase their
talent and secure the ultimate glory for their respective countries.
Ruud is a part of the Norway’s contingent and he has already
booked place in the second round after beating Japan’s Taro Daniel in straight
sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1. During the match, most than his performance, it
was his jersey that remained in discussion as it was very similar to the flag of
Denmark. The 25-year-old was recently quoted in a report where he
admitted that there is a problem in his jersey but stated that he did not
design it and instead he just wore it.
"I would have liked to see a little more blue in it
myself. It is not me who designed it, and i just put up with what i get. But
yes, i missed the blue,” he said."Now I have a bit of blue in my shoes,
and a Norwegian flag there. But it is very little. So yes, I will give feedback
that we can get something blue. I can't promise anything, but i missed
something blue. People might think I play anyway. Keep it up with the
Scandinavian wins (and the outfit)."
The primary difference between the flags of Denmark and Norway
is that in there is a white cross in Danish flag on a red shirt whereas the
line is navy blue bordered with white in Norway’s flag. Ruud also expressed his opinion in a post on social
media platform by writing: Should we try to add a little blue to this outfit
for tomorrow..?🇳🇴🤔 #Paris2024.” The world
number nine is now set to face Andrea Vavassori of Italy in the second round
clash.
