Six Kings Slam: Sinner crushes Medvedev to set up Djokovic rematch

Jannik Sinner defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-0, 6-3 in the first match of the Six Kings Slam. The World No. 1 showed no mercy to the Russian, advancing to the semifinals where he will face an exciting rematch against 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, whom he beat in the final of the Shanghai Masters three days ago.

The competition began with an incredible setup and light show. As in the promotional trailer, each player was introduced in their outfits. Medvedev won the coin toss and chose to serve first, but Sinner capitalized early with a break. Medvedev quickly showed frustration, lightly hitting his racket on the ground a few times after making some unforced errors that left the Italian 2-0 ahead.

The errors continued for Medvedev, who struggled with his serve, winning less than 40% of points on his first serve. Sinner stayed focused and secured a second and third break (the latter with a double fault on break point). The set ended in just 26 minutes with a 6-0 score, the first time such a result occurred in their 14 meetings.

In the early games of the second set, Medvedev managed to fend off several break points. Although the Russian seemed to have improved his response in the rallies, Sinner eventually secured the break in the 5th game and, with his serve, took a comfortable 4-2 lead. Medvedev defended his serve and created several break opportunities, but his frustration was evident as he repeatedly threw his racket to the ground. The Italian, a two-time Grand Slam champion, earned one final break and showed dominance to close out the win without dropping his serve, 6-0, 6-3.
