Stan Wawrinka withdraws from Queen's Club, Kyrgios moves to main draw

Stan Wawrinka is out of the Cinch championships Queen's Club due to a foot injury propelling Nick Kyrgios into the main draw.

The Cinch Championships at the famous Queen's Club in London will not feature Stan Wawrinka but Nick Kyrgios will be there. The Swiss tennis player has been dealing with a foot injury that forced him to miss the entire clay season as he withdrew from all events on the red dirt.

He was supposed to recover in time for the French Open but several days prior to it he officially withdrew. Now he has withdrawn from the Queen's Club event because of that same foot injury. It's unfortunate for Wawrinka who has endured a very tough spell ever since the pandemic hit.

With Wawrinka out, Nick Kyrgios moves into the main draw as the first alternate. The Australian is still in Australia and has not played since the Australian Open. He once again completely skipped over the clay campaign citing the pandemic as a major reason.

Kyrgios is set to return at the Cinch Championships and continue playing through the grass season. You can check out the full entry list here.
