Stefanos Tsitsipas is through to the
Roland Garros R3 after defeating Pedro Martinez 6-3 6-3 6-3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his clay dominance with a stellar win over Pedro Martinez in straight sets. Tsitsipas did not play his best tennis today, but he could still produce some magic in key moments to take the win. Tsitsipas lost his serve first to give Martinez a 3-2 lead but then went on a 4-0 run to close out the set with 6-3.
It took some time for Tsitsipsa to get warmed up but once he did he dictated play with his forehand and Martinez could not find a way to counter it. At the start of the 2nd set, Tsitsipas played a bad game and Martinez took a 2-0 lead. The greek would pull it back and eventually win the set 6-4.
The 3rd set was complete dominance as Martinez lapsed energy-wise which allowed Tsitsipas to dominate from the baseline. Martinez was a step slow and that was trouble. Tsitsipas was a double break up 4-1 but Martinez pulled it back to make it 4-2.
Determined not to let it slip away Tsitsipas added another break to take a 5-2 but he could not finish it losing his serve to make it 5-3. He then finally closed it out with 6-3.
