Stefanos Tsitsipas faced an honest challenge from
Grigor Dimitrov at the
United Cup but he prevailed in a very exciting three-set comeback win 4-6 6-2 7-6(4).
The first set was played really well by both players as neither allowed much on serve. Both Tsitsipas and Dimitrov held it fairly comfortably but Tsitsipas ran into some issues late in the set and Dimitrov converted the break point 6-4 The second set opened well for Tsitsipas who took an early lead 3-1 and added another break later on to win the set 6-2.
He completely outplayed Dimitrov in that one as he risked more and his forehand finally started finding the court consistently. That good momentum nearly gave him an early break in the final set but Dimitrov held from 15-40 down. The Bulgarian then wasted break points on Tsitsipas' serve and we entered a calm phase of the match.
Nobody was able to exert too much pressure and both held comfortable for the tiebreak. In the tiebreak, it was Tsitsipas who was slightly better. Dimitrov missed an easy forehand to lose his serve in the first point played and that was the only minibreak we saw. Tsitsipas dominated with hi serve and closed it out 7-4.
