Stefanos Tsitsipas moved to the ABN AMRO WTT Rotterdam quarterfinals after a hard-fought win over
Hubert Hurkacz.
It took him over two hours to defeated the Polish player who had chances to even win this match. The end result was 6-4 4-6 7-5 which allowed the Greek to move to the quarterfinal where he will face Khachanov. The first set was rather uninteresting as both players served very well for the majority of the set. The first real issue for a server arose late in the set when Hurkacz allowed Stefanos a break point which he used to clinch the opening set.
The 2nd set had a similar script but this time around a different end result. Serving was great for both initially but Stefanos struggled in only one game which the Polish player won giving him a 5-3 lead which became a 6-4 2nd set victory. The final set once again followed the same pattern. Strong serves and service games won with ease for the majority of the set. Late in the set Hurkacz allowed Stefanos a break point which was a match point, but the Greek failed to convert it. Two games later he would have match points again and this time around he did not make a mistake.
A very hard-fought victory for Tsitsipas but one that he will take especially now since he is the highest-seeded player remaining which opens a clear path towards the trophy.
