There appears to be no end to the feud between
Bernard Tomic and
Nick Kyrgios with yet more accusations and name calling in papers and on social media.
After months of silence, the duo hit the headlines again in May when Tomic joked that he has always been Kyrgios’ “idol” and his compatriot has “always been in my shadows growing up”. The reply from Kyrgios was brutal as he called the 29-year-old “the most hated athlete in Australia”, but he was then challenged to a boxing match and told to “put your money where your mouth is."
Naturally, Kyrgios turned down the boxing bout as he had “bigger fish to fry." Furthermore, the 27-year old spoke to The Daily Telegraph about his spat with Tomic, claiming his compatriot was "no longer relevant", "dead broke" and even brought up an instance where he paid for Tomic's flights from Shanghai because Bernard had no money.
“I’m a professional tennis player, still playing at the highest level of sport. Bernard is not,” added Kyrgios.
Tomic has since taking to Instagram to poked fun at Kyrgios with a a video and then hit back after he was accused of being “dead broke”.
“Seriously … WTF. Why you throwing cheap shots Nicky boy,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “Yes you helped me out in Shanghai when we were mates playing doubles together. I lost my wallet, and I paid you back. Big deal (laughing emoji).
“The same thing happened to you in Atlanta. I paid your way when you lost your card, which, if I was petty like you, you’d still owe me. But I don’t go telling the papers this.
“This is all childish. My offer still stands bro. Step up or shut up."
