Taylor Fritz secured another victory at Indian Wells, overcoming Alejandro Tabilo 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and writing his name in the history books at Tennis Garden. The world No. 4 became the fourth American to reach five or more consecutive Round of 16 appearances at Tennis Paradise, a feat last achieved by Andy Roddick in 2007.

Fritz now has 22 wins at Indian Wells—more than twice as many as in any other Masters 1000 event. It also remains the only Masters tournament where he has lifted the trophy, claiming the title in 2022 after ending Rafael Nadal’s 21-0 unbeaten streak that year (6-3, 7-6).

However, Fritz has proven that his success at Indian Wells wasn’t just a one-off run in 2022. He has consistently delivered strong performances at his home tournament, reaching at least the fourth round in each of his last five appearances (2021-2025), adding to his first run to this stage back in 2018.

In addition to his 2022 title, Fritz was a semifinalist in 2021 and a quarterfinalist in 2023. The American No. 1 has adapted perfectly to Indian Wells conditions, despite a shaky start against Tabilo. From the second set onwards, he took full control of the match, finishing with a 61% first-serve percentage, winning 80% of those points, and firing 12 aces compared to just three from his opponent.

Since 1990, Fritz is only the fourth American to reach the Indian Wells fourth round five years in a row, joining Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, and Andy Roddick—the last to achieve it back in 2007. Eighteen years later, Fritz has matched his predecessors.

His next challenge will be British No. 1 Jack Draper, who stormed past Joao Fonseca in his debut before defeating an impressive Jenson Brooksby. Fritz now holds a 22-7 record at Indian Wells, the only Masters 1000 tournament where he has won more than 10 matches.
