Although Jannik Sinner produced a season for the ages this year, Taylor Fritz could not hold back his amazement at the legendary 2006 season of Swiss superstar Roger Federer.

The top-ranked American had the best season of his career in 2024, reaching his maiden Grand Slam final at the 2024 US Open. The California native would lose to Sinner in straight sets, but rattled off some impressive wins en route to qualifying for the year-ending ATP Finals. Fritz would reach the final of the lite event, but again fell to the Italian superstar.

Fritz in awe of Federer's 90+ match season

The official TennisTV Twitter account posted a graphic showing the best match-win records in recent seasons. Jannik Sinner's 2024 season was among the list, as the Italian accumulated a 73-6 win-loss record. Novak Djokovic was also mentioned, compiling an 82-6 win-loss record in 2015.

Spanish legend Rafael Nadal was among the greats, as he pulled off an amazing 71-10 match record in 2010. However, Federer's 2006 season stood above the rest, as the 20-time Grand Slam champion produced an astounding 92-5 match-win record, that included three Grand Slam titles and 12 ATP singles titles.

Fritz was quick to chime in on the graphic, expressing his wonder at Federer's ability to play so many matches in one calendar year.

"I can’t begin to tell you how INSANE playing 97 matches in one year is (Roger 2006) Especially back when Masters finals were 3/5 sets as well," wrote the American.
