Taylor Fritz credited another 3 points on the account of Team World after replacing Nick Kyrgios in the second match of Day 3 and defeating Dominic Thiem.

Fritz was not supposed to play on the court in Geneva during the third game day, but Nick Kyrgios withdrew before the match with Thiem and the American replaced him. The 30th man of the ATP Ranking began the first set slowly when he faced up to three break balls during his first two games. But he was able to turn all away to get up to 5 set balls later in the 12th game and win the first set 7-5.
In the second set Thiem needed to win, as the Team Europe after the first loss of the match necessarily needed some points from this one. The Austrian won the second set in a tie-break 7-3 and so we saw another super tie-break.
Even though Fritz was already losing 2-0 in a super tie-break, he scored 6 points in a row to get 6-2 lead. He didn't lose that and won 10-5. He scored another 3 points for Team World, leading 11-7. The selection of players from Australia, USA and Canada is missing only one victory to win the Laver Cup for the first time. Team Europe won in 2017 and 2018 after winning 15-9 and 13-8. For the Team World this is the first time they have earned more than 10 points.
