Taylor
Fritz commented that he felt snubbed in the poster for the
ATP Finals, which
featured the eight qualified players, including Novak Djokovic and Carlos
Alcaraz.
The
American had an impressive year with a record of 54 wins and 23 losses,
securing two ATP 250 titles in Delray Beach and the Atlanta Open. Fritz had the
chance to qualify for the ATP Finals until the last tournament of the year but
had to withdraw in the second round due to injury, paving the way for Daniel
Altmaier.
Despite
finishing the year just over 300 points behind the 8th-placed Holger Rune,
Fritz will not be able to defend the points from last year. However, he still
closes the year in the top 10 for the second consecutive year.
A post from
Tennis TV featured an illustration of the qualified players, including Novak
Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev,
Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune at the airport, ready to
take on the challenge in Turin. The image also showed
Taylor Fritz and Hubert
Hurkacz at the departure gate, prompting Fritz's response:
“Nah
common,” the American wrote on X.
“They did
me dirty,” he joked on his Instagram story, taking things in stride.
The
tournament kicks off on Sunday with the matches between Sinner and Tsitsipas,
followed by Djokovic against Rune for the Green Group. The top favorite for the
tournament is the 24-times Grand Slam champion, who will be seeking his seventh
crown in the Finals. This achievement would set a record, as he is currently
tied for the top spot with Roger Federer.
