Following a rather impressive 2023 season, Jannik Sinner took some time to reflect on the gratitude he felt for being able to compete at the highest level in the sport he loves.
The Italian will be competing at the year-ending ATP Finals, as the 22-year old currently sits at a career-high ranking of World No.4. Sinner was superb in 2023, winning four ATP titles including an ATP Masters title in Canada.

Sinner speaks on the privilege associated with being an ATP professional

"My pressure [as a player] is nothing compared to that of a surgeon or someone who has to put dinner on the table for their family," said Sinner in a press conference during the ATP Finals. "That's real pressure – not knowing if a rocket will hit your home in five hours or five days. Playing tennis is something to feel honored about.
"It brings me happiness, but it's only right to have doubts [...] It's a privilege because it's not for everyone; it's wonderful to be part of the small group of players who have to manage it."
Sinner will take on Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas in his opening round group stage match on Sunday, November 12.
