Tennis professional player Simohamed Hirs from Morrocco has been banned for life from the sport due to match-fixing.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has confirmed that Morrocan tennis player Simohamed Hirs has been banned from the sport of tennis for life. The ban has come after several investigations into multiple incidents of match-fixing.
Hirs was also ordered to pay a fine of 35.000 $ dollars by the judge who presided over the ruling. Hirst was found guilty of 3 match-fixing charges and banned permanently from attending any tennis event sponsored by the official governing bodies of tennis.
Hirs whose top ranking was 1798 is just the latest player receiving a ban from tennis due to breaching the Tennis Anti-Corruption program. Earlier in the year, 6 players received bans for violating the same rules. The Association announced they had received 11 alerts of suspected match-fixing in the 2nd quarter of 2021 which is less than half the number received in the first quarter of the year.
