Casper Ruud recently broke into the top 10 in the world and the Norwegian wants to lead his country to the
Davis Cup Finals.
2021 has been a breakout year for Casper Ruud who surged on the ATP rankings breaking into the top 10 recently for the first time. The clay court specialists has a well rounded game that is evolving every day and becoming an all court game which should suit him well. Ruud enjoys playing for his country and he wants to see it suceed. He said:
"The ultimate goal for every team is to reach the Finals. Norway has not been to the top of the competition before, but it is something
we are fighting for every time we play. It is something that motivates
me. That is the ultimate goal, although the first goal is to win this
week."
Norway took on Uzbekistan in World Group One and the Norwegian side was able to win the tie 3-1 with Ruud winning bot his match in convincing fashion. He summed up his thoughts by saying they are very close to getting Norway to the finals:
"I think we are getting closer than ever before and we are in a good position. It is not as far away as it has seemed before, and we are all motivated to get there. It would be the perfect way to cap off Anders’ Davis Cup captaincy career. We hope he stays for many years to come, but it would be perfect for him”.
