Thiem defeats Djokovic in ATP Finals classic to reach final

Dominic Thiem is through to the final of the ATP Finals after a classic victory over Novak Djokovic denying fans the opportunity to see a potential tie against Rafael Nadal for the latter.

It is a 300th tour level victory as he saw off the World No.1 in a 7-5, 6-7(10), 7-6(5) victory, the 2019 runner-up failed the convert four match points in a dramatic second set tie-break which prolonged the tie.

He then went 0-4 down in the deciding set tiebreak as Djokovic looked to potentially get away with it but he came back to win through and claim his fifth victory over the Serbian and becomes the latest player to reach back-to-back finals in London.

In that tiebreak, he won six consecutive points from 0-4 down and converted his sixth match point with a brilliant forehand shot and continues his record against Djokovic which has seen five out of seven Head to Head wins as of late.
