Dominic Thiem snapped a losing streak defeating Denis Shapavalov 6-4, 5-7, 13-11 to level it up for Team Europe in Geneva.
Thiem hadn't won since the Canadian Open in August but saw off the Canadian in a tie break thriller which went to the super tie break in the end.
He broke the Canadian's serve in a dominant first set but from there he couldn't build. The World No.20 started to build up the pressure on the Team Europe player in the second set finding his range and claimed it 7-5.
The following set though Shapovalov went from 5-7 down to earn two match points but Thiem survived levelling it up at 9-9 and then claimed it from there in a nail biting last few points 13-11.
