Dominic Thiem recently had another injury setback with a rib injury setting him back after a good end to 2022 during his comeback but the former US Open champion will still play this weekend in the Davis Cup.
This is despite Thiem not arriving for the team bus leaving to go to Rijeka where the clash against Croatia takes place.
Doubts were quickly quelled with Thiem travelling separately with the team which features Dennis Novak, Jurij Rodionov, Lucas Miedler, Alexander Erler.
"He's traveling separately. He's already trained and everything is going according to plan," the ÖTV spokesman gave the all-clear as per SN.
"A small torn muscle fiber in the rib area, but it's not that bad and it should be possible to play in the Davis Cup," as Thiem explained on his return to Austria.
