Thiem Dominic RolandGarros2018

Dominic Thiem and 7 players that he invited to Kitzbuhel are battling for the glory at the Thiem's 7.

The final day at Thiem's 7 brought probably more battles with the weather than tennis battles. First, Matteo Berrettini and Andrey Rublev returned to the court after their match was suspended on Friday. The Russian didn't lose the lead he built on the previous day and won the match in two sets to book the spot in the final of Thiem's 7.
In the final, he faced nobody else than the organizer of the tournament, Dominic Thiem. The two were set for a spectacular final match even though there were some raindrops visible during the match. Rublev triumphed in the first set and built a lead with the break in the second. However, rain suspended the play once again and players headed to the locker rooms.
After they returned back onto the court, Thiem leveled the score when he managed to win the second set 7-5. As the match was troubled by the rain before, there was a super tie-break played instead of a full 3rd set. In the super tie-break, it was Rublev who prevailed to win the match and become the champion of Thiem's 7 in Kitzbuhel.
In the last match of the tournament, Matteo Berrettini defeated Roberto Bautista Agut comfortably in two sets to finish 3rd at the tournament.

Day Four: recap and results:
On Friday, fans in Kitzbuhel could enjoy another set of matches of the Austrian Young Guns as well as the semifinal matches of Thiem's 7. Alexander Erler kicked-off the day with a two-set victory against Lucas Miedler.
The most important match for the fans in the stands came right after the match of these two youngsters. Home-crowd favorite, Dominic Thiem faced Roberto Bautista in the first semifinal match of the tournament.
After the first set, 'Domi' probably wished that they would also play the Fast 4 tennis. The Austrian led 4-1 in the first set (what would guarantee him a set victory in Fast 4) and had 2 breaks. However, he lost his lead and Bautista won the first set in the tie-break.
But Thiem found his rhythm in the second set again, he converted 2 out of 5 breakpoints he had and didn't allow his opponent to have a single one to win the set 6-2. The Austrian was unstoppable also in the third set. He got the 4-1 lead, that he had also in the first set. However, this time he didn't lose it and won the set to become the first finalist at Thiem's 7.
In the second semifinal match, the winner of Group B, Matteo Berrettini faced Andrey Rublev who lost only to Dominic Thiem in Kitzbuhel. Both players showed high-quality on their service games. The Russian got his first breakpoint in the 4th game, but he didn't convert it. In the 10th game, he got another and this time he succeeded and won the first set 6-4.
In the 2nd set, there was no time for much to happen. Both players held their service games as Rublev led 2-1. That was the time when nature decided that this match won't be finished on Friday as the rain suspended the play. Players tried to return onto the court a couple of times, but it was impossible to continue and so the match will be finished on Saturday. The match was finished on Saturday and Rublev didn't lose the lead he earned on Friday and won the match in two sets.
?? Erler, A. ?? Miedler, L. 2-0 4-1, 4-1
?? Thiem, D. ?? Bautista, R. 2-1 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-2

Day Three recap and results:

On Thursday, there were no matches of Austrian Young Guns at Thiem's 7 and so Roberto Bautista and Dennis Novak kicked-off the day right away. However, it seemed that the Austrian probably needed some more time to get ready for the match as Bautista defeated him in just 50 minutes.
Also, Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud wanted to play the semifinals at Thiem's 7. However, both couldn't advance as they both lost to Dominic Thiem previously. They showed that they really want to play the semifinal match in Kitzbuhel when the match reached the super tie-break. There, it was Rublev who prevailed to maximize his semifinal chances.
In the last match of Group A, Dominic Thiem continued in his winning streak. The Austrian also didn't drop a set again when he defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets. Therefore, the world no. 3 won his group without losing a set and will meet Roberto Bautista in the semifinals.
Also, Karen Khachanov got his victory at the tournament. In the last match of the group stage, he defeated Matteo Berrettini in the match that couldn't change anything in the group standings. Berrettini still won the group and got his spot in the semifinals.
?? Bautista, R. ?? Novak, D. 2-0 6-0, 6-1
?? Rublev, A. ?? Ruud, C. 2-1 6-2, 3-6, 10-4
?? Thiem, D. ?? Struff, J-L. 2-0 6-4, 7-6(3)
?? Berrettini, M. ?? Khachanov, K. 0-2 6-7(6), 4-6

Day Two recap and results:

In the first match of the second day, two winners from the first day Matteo Berrettini and Roberto Bautista wanted to fight for the first place in Group B. The young Italian, who played many more matches during ATP Tour suspension, defeated his Spanish opponent in two sets 6-4, 6-3 to get the second point in the group stage.
Also the second Austrian at Thiem's 7 got his first victory at the tournament. After previously losing to Matteo Berrettini on Day 1, Dennis Novak faced Karen Khachanov on Day 2. The Austrian showed that he can beet players from Top 20 of the ATP Rankings when he defeated Karen Khachanov in two sets in front of the home crowd.
Jan-Lennard Struff was another player that got his first victory on the second day of the tournament. The German defeated Casper Ruud in two sets to keep his hopes for the semifinals in Kitzbuhel alive.
In the last match of the second day, the organizer of the tournament, Dominic Thiem faced young Russian, Andrey Rublev. The Austrian showed his experience when he defeated his Russian opponent in two sets.

Day One recap and results:

The tournament in Kitzbuhel started with a match between 'Austrian Young Guns'. These matches don't count for the Thiem's 7 as it is a separate tournament for 20,000€ between four Austrian players. Alexander Erler defeated Jurij Rodionov 4-3(2), 2-4, 4-3(2). After that, Andrey Rublev and Jan-Lennard Struff stepped on the court in the match which would mean the first result and change in group standings for Thiem's 7.
The match had all the opening match of the tournament should have. We saw both players dominating for some time and winning a set. After Struff has won the first set 6-3, Rublev prevailed in the second to win it 6-4. The match was then decided by a super tie-break which was dramatic as well. In the end, it was Rublev who was a better player to win the super tie-break 15-13 and get the first point of the tournament.
In the second match in Kitzbuhel, the organizer of the tournament, Dominic Thiem faced Casper Ruud. The players showed their great tennis skills in a beautiful match that was not just nice to watch, but also long enough to enjoy. The first set was played for more than an hour, and Thiem won it 7-5. Also in the second set, players didn't stop providing great spectacle to 500 fans watching in Kitzbuhel and many more on TV. Thiem showed his great experience to eventually win the match 7-5, 7-6(4).
You wouldn't distinguish Matteo Berrettini and Dennis Novak when they entered the court dressed identically. You also wouldn't distinguish them in the first set, when the Austrian managed to keep the pace of world no. 8, Berrettini, and got the set to the tie-break. However, since that moment, it was the Italian that prevailed to win the match 7-6(6), 6-3.
Also, Roberto Bautista and Karen Khachanov wanted to record their first victory at the Thiem's 7. Despite his best efforts, the young Russian didn't manage to defeat Bautista who showed that he's a better player on the clay. The Spaniard won 6-4, 6-3, and got his first point in the group stage.
