Three years ago Andy Murray announced plans to retire from tennis due to prolongued hip issues but yesterday he got a wild cardy entry inte the Austrlaian Open.
Andy Murray often spoke about how much he loves playing at the Australian Open. While he never won it he did play some of his best tennis at the event. Murray played 5 finals in total which is the most finals he played at any grand slam. In 2021 he will return to the place where his dreams shattered three years ago. In 2011 Murray held a press conference where he foreshadowed something that would happen not long after that - his retirement from tennis.
Prolonged hip issues forced him to retire as he was unable to play with the pain. After initially retiring he elected to have surgery after which he announced his ambition to return to the game. His ambition turned reality many months after that but only recently did he get back to really good tennis. He will return to Melbourne in 2022 after missing the previous edition.
His entry comes thanks to a wild card which he got yesterday and it will be a great moment for Murray who was very somber three years ago. Check it out below.
