In 2017, Grigor Dimitrov reached the biggest success of his career so far when he triumphed at the ATP Finals in London.

Dimitrov started his 2017 season with a triumph in Brisbane. He then reached semifinals at the Australian Open and added another 2 titles in Sofia and Cincinnati. As he was among the best 8 tennis players that year, he also qualified for the ATP Finals.
The Bulgarian was drawn into a very strong group with Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and David Goffin. After losing in the first match to David Goffin, Nadal had to withdraw from the tournament and was replaced by Pablo Carreno-Busta.
Dimitrov won all 3 matches in the group stage while losing only 1 set en route. In the semifinals, he faced Jack Sock who he defeated in 3 sets. The biggest challenge of the tournament came in the final when he faced David Goffin.
In the group stage, it was an easy 6-0, 6-2 victory for the Bulgarian and he wanted to follow up on that victory. However, the final match was different. After Dimitrov won the first set 7-5 and lost the second 4-6, the score was level. He needed 5 match points in the third to win the biggest title of his career and move to 3rd place of the ATP Ranking.
