Speaking to Ouest France, 4-time doubles Grand Slam champion, Nicolas Mahut revealed his plans for the next season.

The 38-years-old Frenchman is already almost 20 years on the pro tour. After losing in the first round to Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in 2016 as first-seeded, it will be a goal to win a medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021 for Mahut.
"(The postponement of the Olympics) was an almost inevitable decision, it was not a shock but rather a disappointment. I had planned my season according to the Olympics, so I had to digest it. But quickly I switched to 2021. I feel capable of arriving in shape in a year," Mahut said.
"It is too early to plan on a program. But we know how to speak and the objective is of course to go to Tokyo and win a medal. We have the same objective at this level. Quite honestly, I planned to take some time out at the end of this year to think about what I wanted to do. Would 2020 have been my last? Would I have continued? From the moment the Olympics were postponed, I will take this moment of reflection in a year. Today is too early to tell. This is not an answer that I want to take lightly. At my age, I cannot stop to start again, as some have been able to do. If I continue, I want to know why I am doing it," said Mahut.
