Tim Henman lauds 'vulnerable' Nadal draw for Draper as a 'great opportunity': "Nothing to lose and a lot to gain"

Tim Henman believes drawing Rafael Nadal in round one is a great opportunity for Jack Draper as the Spaniard showed himself quite vulnerable lately.

Nadal is yet to win a match in 2023 as he lost both matches at the United Cup and then lost a practice match to Hubert Hurkacz in Melbourne as well. According to Henman, that's a great opportunity for Jack Draper who showed at last year's US Open that he can handle the pressure of a grand slam.

Henman said:

“It's a great opportunity for Jack. Having just sat on a court where Cam Norrie beat Nadal in the United Cup, I think it's fair to say that Nadal is a little bit vulnerable. He hasn't won a lot of matches recently. He lost both his matches at the United Cup.

He added:

“I'm sure he's been working incredibly hard in practice but you want the confirmation on the match court and Jack is obviously playing well in Adelaide this week. I think if you're going to come up against one of the world's very best players, the first round is the time to play [them] so I definitely think it's a case that Jack has nothing to lose and a lot to gain.”
