After missing the event in 2023, Carlos Alcaraz is back in Monte-Carlo!
While Jannik Sinner has been in better form this year some might say, Carlos Alcaraz is the better of the fledgling rivalry believes Toni Nadal in a recent interview.
No surprise given that Alcaraz is Spanish and touted by many as the next coming of his nephew, Rafael Nadal. But Sinner has shown this season that despite losing their one and only meeting, he is in the more consistent form.
Sinner added the Miami Open to the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open won this season, while Alcaraz has only won Indian Wells since claiming Wimbledon last year. Albeit the Spaniard has shown better form compared to the past eight months recently so seems to be heading back towards his best. Similar to the GOAT debate, it will be a rivalry full of conjecture.
"[Tennis] has clearly received the baton, because the two [Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner] are showing that they will be difficult to beat for their rivals. [Carlos Alcaraz] still seems a little better than Sinner," said Toni Nadal as per Cadena SER.
"[Jannik Sinner] does not fail, and today he is the top favorite to reach number one. A very good rivalry in the coming years for tennis, for Spain and for sport in general," he added.
