Frances Tiafoe is one of America's top tennis stars but his girlfriend Ayan Broomfield is also a tennis player so she decided to pit their respective talents together in a target-hitting serving duel. Albeit she was left with a 'fat L' as she dubbed it as her boyfriend took the win.
Tiafoe has had an indifferent start to the season and has reached the latter stages at the Hong Kong Open and also the Delray Beach Open recently. But at the Australian Open and Dallas Open, he flattered to deceive and this is after reuniting with his old coach, Diego Moyano after splitting with Wayne Ferreira. But it seems he also got that winning feeling by defeating his girlfriend who to his credit did challenge him in the first place. It is nearly a year since he won his last title at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart with Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul stealing a march as the top American talents.
"This morning, Frances and I were at breakfast, and we were trying to go back and forth about whose serve was better and who’s more accurate," Ayan Broomfield said in the video on Instagram shared on her social media.
"I’m obviously more accurate," Tiafoe said in response. "So what we’re going to do is put up some targets and see who hits them first," Broomfield replied.
Despite best laid plans, Broomfield lost the challenge as the professional tennis player showed his precision. She stated during the challenge that she took the 'fat L' but vowed to defeat him in the future showing that competitive fighting spirit.
"H*ll yeah! Beat her once again," Frances Tiafoe said after winning. "Whatever. Took a fat L. I'll get him back, though," Broomfield responded. "I thought I had him 😤 @bigfoe1998," she captioned her Instagram post.
