Australian tennis star
Nick Kyrgios has named Spainโs
legendary player
Rafael Nadal on the list of his toughest opponents.
The 28-year-old is famous for being outspoken, something
that has not always gone down well with the fans.
Kyrgios is currently spending time on the sideline after
suffering an injury earlier in the year which is why he has not taken part in
any of the Grand Slams in 2023.
While responding to a fan's query on Instagram about who is his toughest
opponent yet, the Canberra-born named Nadal along with the three-time Grand Slam
winner Switzerlandโs
Stan Wawrinka and the current world number five Greeceโs
Stefanos Tsitsipas. โTsitsipas. Nadal. Wawrinka,โ he wrote.
In further interaction with the fans, Kyrgios also suggested
that his return with Nadal will improve the quality of the ATP Tour. โThe tour
will be better when we are both back,โ he said.
Kyrgios will be hoping to return from the injury as soon as
possible as it halted his careerโs progress which was evident last year which was the best he had at the highest level.
The current world number 35 managed to reach his maiden
Grand Slam final in 2022 in Wimbledon where he eventually lost to Serbiaโs
legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic with a score of 4โ6, 6โ3, 6โ4, 7โ6(7โ3).
Not only that but Kyrgios also managed to cement his place
in the quarterfinal of the US Open last year where he was defeated by Russiaโs Karen
Khachanov with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4.
