Out of the big two in Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the former seems more likely to be heading towards being ready for the French Open as he continues to test out his resistance and his forearm ahead of Roland Garros. He has been spotted at his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero's Academy getting ready.
The decision will likely be taken in the coming days whether he will play in Madrid. He is supposedly set to travel to Paris on Wednesday, May 22 as per Marca. He will supposedly stay in a hotel next to the Champs Elysees. This in comparison to his rival Jannik Sinner.
Sinner's only semblance of a post has come from his coach, Darren Cahill who cryptically posted Roland Garros balls and a racquet as a potential sign. Novak Djokovic will play at the Geneva Open next week too in order to get his match practice up as he looks to take full advantage of his two main rivals seemingly slipping.
Alcaraz has not been right since before the Monte-Carlo Masters. He played Madrid, but admitted afterwards that he had further discomfort in his forearm. This in turn took him out of the Rome Open. He then had some time off in order to recoup and heal and has started practice this week. He initially just did some conditioning work, but has now stepped it up with a racquet. Albeit he has still been seen with his forearm sleeve. So he isn't out of the woods seemingly yet.
“I felt some pain after playing in Madrid, some discomfort in my arm. Today I did some tests and I have a muscle edema in my pronator teres, a consequence of my recent injury,” Alcaraz wrote on X.
“Unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome. I need to rest so I can recover and play 100% pain free.”
"These days @carlitosalcarazz is working hard 🔥on trying to recover in order to be ready for the upcoming tournaments! 🎾 Vamos Carlitos, tú puedes," Ferrero captioned the video.
