Stefanos Tsitsipas through to the next round of Roland Garros after Aljaz Bedene retired midway through set 3 while being down 2-0.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has put all early Roland Garros woes to bed with another convincing performance that will be somewhat smeared by the fact that Bedene retired. Before Bedene decided to cut the match short he was getting completely obliterated by Tsitsipas on the court. The first set was a strong one from the Greek who won it 6-1. Stefanos didn't play too aggressively hitting only 10 winners but Bedenea was overmatched from the start and he had no response.
The 2nd set wasn't much different as the Greek dominated once again winning it with 6-2. The Slovenian looked terrible not being able to hit his serve or any winner consistently. Midway through the 3rd set he finally decided to retire as Tsitsipas broke him once again. He would have lost the match anyway very quickly but probably had a lingering injury that he didn't want to aggravate.
It's unclear whether there was some sort of injury in the match or prior to the match but nonetheless, he was overmatched by Tsitsipsas and the Greek is through deservedly so.
