Displaying some of his best tennis of the season,
Stefanos Tsitsipas resumed his quest for the Abierto Mexicano Acapulco title with an easy win over Marcos Giron to reach the semifinals.
The Greek star saved all four break points faced in his 6-3 6-4 victory, dictating play with his powerful groundstrokes. After having lost just one game in his previous match, Tsitsipas was faced with a sterner challenge as Giron did his best to disrupt his rhythm. However, a single break in each set was enough to give the World No.4 the victory.
The third seed is yet to drop a set this tournament, with his most difficult match coming in the opening round against Laslo Djere. The 2019 ATP Finals champion was pushed to two tiebreaks, but has since cruised through the rest of his encounters.
Tsitsipas will face the winner between sixth seed Cameron Norrie and German lukcy loser Peter Gojowczyk, as both men face off in their quarterfinal match later on Thursday night.
