The 12th
seed continues his excellent form, reaching the second week of a Grand Slam for
the fifth consecutive time, showcasing his great consistency as one of the top
players on the ATP Tour. The former Indian Wells champion is one of the main
local hopes to end a 21-year title drought for an American man.
Fritz has
already secured wins against Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Matteo Berrettini, in
addition to his recent victory against Comesaña.

The former
world No. 5 was pleased with his performance against Comesaña: “Two nights ago
I was really happy with how I came out and played, and it gave me a lot of
confidence coming into today, feeling like I was going to be able to play a
solid match,” he stated. “I stayed focused the whole time, stayed on top of it
and played really solid.”
Fritz's new
achievement was highlighted by ESPN on social media, but Fritz responded with
criticism of the television channel: “Taylor Fritz becomes the first American
man to reach the second week at all four majors in a year since Andre Agassi in
2003 👏.”
Fritz's
girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, previously commented that Fritz was upset with ESPN
for following her on Instagram but not him. Riddle has gained fame on social
media by sharing behind-the-scenes content from the Tour and offering fashion
advice.
“Taylor’s
mad tonight because ESPN followed me on Instagram and doesn’t follow him,” she
said.
Later,
Fritz reiterated his criticism on social media: “Love the shoutout from @espn
but you follow my gf and not me on insta so we have beef,” the American No. 1
responded to the post on X.
