Jelena Ostapenko was not happy with the noise Brazilian fans were making during her battle with Beatriz Haddad Maia at the Miami Open.

Brazilian fans are notorious as fans backing their players with fierce passion. It happened once more when they were present for the match between Ostapenko and Beatriz Haddad Maia but the Latvian was not happy with the noise and she let it be known after the match. Ostapenko rarely minces her words and is not afraid to speak her mind.

She said:

"Yeah, I am really happy to win today, of course the crowd was mostly against me, a little bit disrespectful, but thanks guys who were supporting me. I really appreciate it, and yeah, I am just really proud of myself that I was firing. It felt like a football match today."

Fans are getting out of hand again (as in the 80's and 90's at soccer/football matches). However sports organizations are avoiding the resurgence of verbal abuses across the board. Apparently fine with ignoring it until there is damage done; or a catastrophe at some point. This is what you get when large, powerful, entitled sports organizations are left to police (or not) their own problems/offenses.
