Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic achieved yet another milestone. The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic recently unlocked another achievement as he became the oldest player to hold the number-one spot in men’s tennis history.
Interestingly, a video surfaced of the Belgrade-born in his childhood which shows how he always aimed to be the best in the world, something he has now achieved for 419 weeks and counting.
Djokovic will be hoping that breaking such a record will help him regain a bit of lost form in the recent past. The reigning world number one did not take part in the Miami Open but had a disappointing outing in the event before that — the Indian Wells — where he was knocked out after losing in the round of 32 to Italy’s Luca Nardi with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Before that, the 24-time Grand Slam winner did not have a great time in the first major tournament of the season — the Australian Open — where he lost in the semifinal to Italy’s Jannik Sinner with a score of 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
Djokovic will now take part in the Monte Carlos Masters where he will face the winner of the match between Roman Safiullin and Jaume Munar in the round of 32.
