Germany’s
Alexander Zverev interrupted world number one Jannik
Sinner in an interview for ATP after being named the player with the ‘best hair’.
Both players are currently in Turin to participate in the
ATP Finals which is the
last major event in the men’s tennis calendar. Eight top players are
participating in the competition to showcase their talent and secure the
ultimate prize.
ATP, in a post on their official account on the social media
platform X, shared a funny video featuring Sinner as he received the trophy for
having ‘best hair’. Reigning world number two Zverev was quick to interrupt the
two-time Grand Slam winner in the video by claiming that he grew his hair for
three years to win the award. “He has the best hair? What the hell is this? I
grew my hair for three years for this award and you’re giving it to…. Ahh come
on now. I’m never going to win,” he said.
Sinner looked shocked and gave the trophy to Zverev, who
said: “Thank you. I won this award.” He then hands it back to his on-court
rival as he adds: “No, I’m kidding.” The world number one further went on to
state that he has no words describing how he feels after winning a unique video
as he does not have the trophy anymore. “I am surprised,” he said. “I have no
words. And now I’m not even happy anymore because Sascha took it.”
Sinner has already begun his campaign as he defeated
Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the first match of the round-robin stage in straight
sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. He will next face Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in
the rematch of the Australian Open 2024 final. On the other hand, Zverev will
begin his campaign against Russia’s Andrey Rublev on Monday.
