Karolina Muchova is not yet ready to return to action after recent injury troubles which curtailed her season and saw her retire against Mirra Andreeva in Ningbo. She won't play the
Billie Jean King Cup Finals which start on November 13.
Muchova announced that she won't head to Malaga and seemingly hinted that it had in fact come just a little bit too soon in her comeback. She said that she decided with the captain that the team should be changed based off the fact that she couldn't give it her all.
She has suffered in the past year with a wrist injury in particular which saw her out for a near calendar year before she returned proving to be one of the best players on tour on her return. In particular the former Roland Garros finalist as well as Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen were the trio that were most in-form until Muchova's season got curtailed.
"Hey everyone! I was really hoping to be ready to play at the @BJKCup in Malaga, but it’s clear I wouldn’t be able to give it my all. Coach Petr Pála and I agreed to change the lineup, and I’ll be cheering on the team from afar," she wrote.
She will still head to Malaga though meaning it is likely a decision bore off the fact that she trained and found that she wasn't 100% to give it her all. But also adds a predicament. At one point, they had an embarrassment of riches but with Marketa Vondrousova out with injury and Petra Kvitova just becoming a mother, it leaves only really Barbora Krejcikova on the top table in singles.
It is still good compared to others with Linda Noskova, Katerina Siniakova and Marie Bouzkova set to compete. But no Barbora Krejcikova and now no Karolina Muchova leaves them short.
