Can somebody get Rublev some mental help? A mental coach? Therapy? Something? This is getting out of hand.
Andrey Rublev suffered a poor exit at the Paris Masters losing 6-7, 6-7 to Francisco Cerundolo and to make matters worse for the Russian, he lost his temper again. He smashed his racquet off his knee again.
Rublev has often let his emotions get the better of him and this happened again at the Paris Masters. Usually quite a mild mannered person, he can get pretty angry on court and was even disqualified for appearing to scream swear words at an umpire earlier in the year.
He said that this incident caused him mental health problems and that it is an issue directly due to that. He started the match well and led 4-1 in the first set but the Argentine bounced back and won the set in a tie-break. During the second set, the Russian hit himself in the knee constantly with his racquet which led to bleeding. Moments later, he was clutching his knee.
The second set also went to a tie-break and Cerundolo won it to book his place in the third round of the Paris Masters. It is the fourth time out of seven appearances that Rublev was knocked out without winning a match. It also ends his ATP Finals chances.
