Spain’s young tennis sensation gets a new tattoo to celebrate
his win at the Roland Garros. The 21-year-old is already regarded as one of the
best players currently playing in men’s tennis, along with Italy’s Jannik Sinner
and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz, who won the French Open title for the first time in
his career after beating Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final in another
five-set thrilling contest with a score of 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2 earlier this
year, celebrated the triumph is some style. In a video shared on the
social media platform X—previously known as Twitter—the former world number one
can be seen getting a tattoo to celebrate the win at the Roland Garros.
Alcaraz’s season improved recently when he defeated
the former world number one Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in
the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. The win was a special
one as the four-time Grand Slam winner defended the title at an iconic venue,
that too against a player of Djokovic’s class. It is the first time in his young
career where Alcaraz won as many as two Grand Slams in a calendar year. The El
Palmar-born won his first major title after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the
final of the US Open in 2022 with a score of 6–4, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–3.
Last year in 2023, Alcaraz clinched his second Grand Slam
title as he defeated Djokovic in a five-set thriller with a score of 1–6,
7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4. Alcaraz, this season, had a slow start but managed to gain
the much-needed momentum after few frustrating performances. Before winning the
French Open, the current world number three lifted the Indian Wells after
beating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the final in straight sets with a score of
7-6, 6-1.
