Mark Lajal seemed to either cave into a bet or just show his showman side as he played a
Challenger Tour match in Canada with a sublime trick during a doubles tie. The World No.262 who faced Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon recently showed off his skillset teaming with Daniil Glinka.
Lajal pulled off a press-up midway through a point and still managed to hit a winner after the fact. They face American pairing Tennyson Whiting and Kelsey Stephenson and they sat at 4-4 on serve.
But despite the close nature of the tie, Lajal decided to head towards trickery instead of focus. He laid down on his stomach while the point was still going on. He tried to get out of the way of a smash attempt and dropped to the floor pinning his arms to the ground.
Glinka kept focus and hit the return as Lajal lept back up to return with a superb forehand. Lajal was questioned on Reddit with some seeing it as part of a bet. "This feels like a bet or dare or something. Like the night before the match he said to his partner 'I bet I can do a push-up mid rally followed immediately by a winner at the net'." Another wrote: "Just one pushup? Gotta get those numbers up."
Certainly better than us mere mortals that's for sure and if you can do it why not.
